The Need to Stay Positive

I still can't decide if I made the right choice as far as the new job goes. I feel like I'm in over my head in some areas, and I'm wondering if I gave them a false sense of assurance on what I can do? I hope not. I'm a CT tech. I can perform scans, reconstruct images, start IV's, inject contrast, monitor a patient as needed, fix mistakes on the computer.

I'm NOT a PACS adminstrator. I don't have any experience in setting up a RIS/PACS (radiology information systems/picture archiving and communication systems) enviornment. I'm willing to learn, but I need more than 15 minutes a day. I can't be a fill in x-ray tech AND so all the other shit that has to get done before the scanner is operational! They have a tech out for medical reasons, and don't have an ETA on when she'll be back. So, I'm filling in for her, plus this other stuff...WTF?

I'm very frustrated and not sure how to go about bringing this up. I need to write policies and procedures for the CT department. I need to figure out what supplies to stock, and get an ordering process set up. I need to create or borrow a procedure list that covers CT, US, xray, and mammography to get imported on to our RIS, so when PACS is up, it will all communicate, and hopefully be the same as what OCI(Oregon Community Imaging) is using. Apparently OCI should be helping with alot of this, but no one at my clinic really knows.

So there you go. 1 week down. Did I make the right choice? Sigh.

I write this all as I sit at the hospital working a 12 hour shift. Which makes me happy to be back here, but I wasn't happy to be up t 540am.
