wanted:

firebomber or pyromaniac Job: decimate my house Pay: Pride in the fact you helped one family get rid of all the excess in their lives

Okay I know it's not funny, house fires happen, esp. at this time of the year. But I am seriously about to lose it. I have no idea where to start. My house is thrashed, and I can't even clean or organize anything cuz I don't have anywhere to put all this shit. I have 3 rubbermaid tubs, 2 gymbo boxes, 1 gap box, 2 gymbo bags, and a large laundry basket ALL FULL of clothes for Clara to grow into, clothes that Clara outgrew, clothes that I got a smokin' deal on and need to sell on ebay, clothes I bought cuz I'm stupid and need to return (if it's not too late) or sell. That is all IN MY LIVING ROOM. I also have 2 large scrapbooking totes, 4 small totes, and some rubbermaid bins associated w/scrapbooking ALL IN MY LIVING ROOM.

I could keep going on and on and on with all the shit, just in the single room I'm sitting in. And every room of my house is like this. I don't know what to do. I want to just ignore it all (again), but I don't want to live like this any longer :(

Mary, I totally sympathyze. My best friend lives in a very, very small house and she really is at her wits end, too.

OK, here's a thought. Can you put up a little shed in your backyard just for storage? You can get them relatively cheap -- I know you really can't spend a lot on storage, but even that little bit of extra space might make a big difference.

Well we were *supposed* to take down the shakey 'loft' in the garage, and put up a sturdy one so I could put things like rubbermaid tubs up there. But some how that got sidetracked.

A shed type thing might be nice, but I don't think we have enough even space in the backyard for something. Something else that got sidetracked was building a family room on the back of our house if we planned on staying her more than 4 or 5 years. Well we've been here for 4 now, and still nothing.

Arg. so frustrating.

What about cheap shelving in your garage? We've got a couple of those tall wooden shelves from IKEA in our garage and they're great for storage. I've got *ahem* boxes I haven't unpacked yet and Tupperware containers on them. They're great.

okay first you have to stop buying new things until you either get rid of what you have or find some place for it. I know you have a busy schedule, but anytime you have free minute pick one bin (or corner of a room) to look thru. If you know you have things to sell, then either use the free time you have to list it on ebay or just take it to a consignment shop to get rid of it faster(and i'm always interested in stuff lol). ((huggs))
