christmas

yeah I know it's still october. But the big toy book from TRU came today in the paper, along with all the other store ads being chock full of toy sales. I would really like this year to not be a year of excess. Jake and Clara got way too many toys last year, and I really don't want a repeat.

I'm already telling Jake that Santa is only bringing each of them 1 big toy this year. I told him I'd help him make a list to give to Santa, then Santa could pick a big toy to bring. Clara just says she wants dolls or babies, she'll be alot easier. I think we're going to buy her the big Dora dollhouse set from Costco, and the house itself would be her Santa gift, then I'd wrap up all the sets that come with it for her little gifts. The only problem we seem to be running into is the vsmile thing. I really want tog et it for them to share, I've heard great reviews, and I'd rather Jake want to play that then not appropriate computer games. Maybe they'll each get 1 big santa gift, then the vsmile to share, plus the little gifts from Tom and I.

I'm sure I'll get all suckered up in to the toy rush/holiday season/time of overindulgence, but I'll have this post to come back and review ;)

Last year Julia got so much stuff and she was only interested in like, one gift. This year I know she'll be a bit more aware but we're not doing it up as much as we did last year. And we're really not going to buy too much for Oliver. Clothes, probably, and a Santa gift so Julia sees that Oliver gets a gift from Santa too. And Dave and I are just doing stockings. Christmas is way too overrated.
