Frustrated

I don't think this surgery for Jake is ever going to happen. Ugh

For the last 2 years we've had private insurance for the kids and I. It has a super high deductible ($7500) but it's only $20 to go to the Dr (specialists included). No one is every very sick, so it's never been a problem. Tom is covered fully for free by his job. poopyhead.

Now the surgery for Jake's ears would cost us about $4000. That's with the 'discount' the insurance knocks off. But because of the deductible, we'd be responsible for that amount.

Even with the raise Tom got a few months ago, we qualify for the Oregon health plan. So I applied for the kids to be covered. It pays for the surgery in whole.

The problem has to do with us keeping Lifewise as our primary insurance. We're not dropping it just because the kids got OHP, it'd only save us about $30 a month to drop the kids and just have me on it.

I was just talking to the insurance authorizer from the Dr's office. Apparently the for OHP to be secondary to lifewise, and to not have to have alot of extra testing (hearing and stuff), it has to be 'open card' whereas right now it's a certain 'health plan.'

Now the lady was going to call to see if they are switching it to open card so we can actually get the surgery set up and ready to go. I have no idea how long this is going to take. I was hoping the surgery would be the week of the 11th or 18th. We can't do it the week of the 25th because my parents will be in England, and my mom won't be back til Novemeber. She was going to help watch him after the first day so I wouldnt' miss much work.

Confused yet? See why I am? sigh.

I hate insurance problems. Stinks! I am sure it will all work out, though. It has to, right?
